Getting Started
The app runs on your own OpenAI account. To use it you need an API key:
- Go to platform.openai.com and sign in or create an account.
- Open API keys and create a new secret key.
- Add a payment method under Billing. A key without billing enabled will be rejected by OpenAI.
- Copy the key and paste it into the app when prompted, or under Settings > OpenAI API key.
Your key is stored in your iPhone’s Keychain and is only ever sent to OpenAI.
What Does It Cost?
The app is free and has no subscription. Each render is a paid API call billed to you directly by OpenAI at their published rate. Standard quality costs less than High. You can set a spending limit on your OpenAI account.
Common Problems
“Your API key was rejected (401)”
The key is wrong, incomplete or has been revoked. Create a new one.
“Access denied (403)”
Your OpenAI account may need verification before it can use image generation. Check platform.openai.com.
“Rate limit or quota reached (429)”
You have hit a spending limit or rate limit on your OpenAI account.
The render doesn’t match my drawing
Set “How closely to follow your design” to Faithful. Balanced and Creative both allow the model to reinterpret your geometry.
The plan I generated has wrong dimensions
Dimensions, areas and scale bars are drawn to look plausible. They are not measured and must never be used as construction information. The app warns you when you turn those options on.
What the App Can and Cannot Do
Results are generated by an image model. It does not build or measure a 3D model of your design. Sketch to Plan produces an image, not a CAD file. Render from Plan infers a view from the plan rather than reconstructing it geometrically. Always check output against your own drawings.
Privacy
No account, no servers, no analytics. Everything is stored on your device.
